CLARK FREEPORT –– More than 5,000 overseas Filipino workers managed to return to the country last month via the Clark International Airport (CRK) here, which resumed serving international flights since June 5, the facility’s operator said on Wednesday.
The Luzon International Premier Airport Development (Lipad) said the airlines that flew to and from CRK were the Emirates, Philippine Airlines, Qatar Airways, and Wamos Air.
The OFWs came from Dubai, Barbados, Doha and Madrid, Lipad said in a statement.
Lipad, a private consortium that operates and maintains CRK since 2019, said it worked with various government agencies to “ensure a seamless arrival experience for all passengers.”
The workers received the results of their test for coronavirus disease within 72 hours from the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital laboratory, enabling them to return at once to their families
Lipad is “looking forward to serving more flights and more passengers in the coming weeks, in compliance with further guidelines set by the IATF and our government,” said Bi Yong Chungunco, Lipad chief executive officer.
It said that this July, Jin Air, and Jeju Air would make once a week flights to Incheon in Korea. Emirates would fly twice weekly to Dubai. AirAsia and PAL fly to Davao Saturdays and Fridays, respectively.
