MANILA, Philippines — The number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases among overseas Filipinos breached the 6,000-mark after 455 confirmed cases were recently reported, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Tuesday.
According to the DFA, a total of 6,021 Filipinos have so far tested positive for the new coronavirus across 52 countries.
Of these cases, 2,746 remain under treatment while 2,833 have recovered or been discharged from the hospital.
Meanwhile, 16 new fatalities were reported from three countries in the Middle East, which brought the death toll to 442.

In the Philippines, health officials have confirmed 26,781 COVID-19 cases. Of the number, 6,552 have recovered while 1,103 have died.
Globally, over 7.8 million individuals have so far been infected by the new coronavirus, which originated from Wuhan City in China’s Hubei province late last year. More than 430,000 have died from the disease across the world.
