DFA: Overseas Filipinos who recovered from COVID-19 reach 2,485

MANILA, Philippines — More than 100 Filipinos abroad have recently recovered from COVID-19, raising the total count of recoveries to 2,485.

This was reported Saturday by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), adding that the recorded 116 new recoveries were Filipinos in the United States, Asia, and the Pacific.

DFA also said five Filipinos in the US and the Middle East have died from the disease, driving the toll to 400. According to DFA, the highest number of deaths are from the US with 160, followed by the Middle East with 147.

In total, DFA said 5,519 Filipinos abroad – including the additional 29 new cases – have been infected with the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19, a severe respiratory ailment.
