MANILA, Philippines — At least six Filipinos in Spain have died of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while 32 recovered, Philippine Consul General in Spain Adrian Elmer Cruz said Monday.
These figures were out of 82 Filipinos in Spain suspected or confirmed to be infected with the novel coronavirus, Cruz said during the Laging Handa briefing.
“And we are also confident in the recovery of the rest of the Filipinos that we are monitoring,” Cruz assured.
“But still, we are also encouraging the Filipino community to report to us if there are also other Filipinos reported to be COVID-positive,” he added.
Cruz said the COVID-19 situation in Spain has been improving with only one death reported in the last 24 hours by its Ministry of Health.
“As of June 7, there are more than 241 coronavirus cases that have been confirmed in Spain. There were 27,000 deaths that were reported by the Ministry of Health reported also that 150,000 have recovered,” he further said.
Spain is the sixth country with the most number of recorded COVID-19 cases globally with over 241,000.
