The number of confirmed cases in the region tripled overnight, from about 900 to more than 3,200 due to “late reports” from the country’s diplomatic posts.

About 149 Filipinos in the United States and Canada have died of COVID-19, while 91 have died in Europe.

The DFA does not provide a country breakdown of COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos, citing privacy laws in other countries.

It provides a daily summary report per region: Asia-Pacific, Middle East/Africa, Europe and the Americas.

The Middle East-Africa region has the most active cases, or Filipino coronavirus patients who have yet to recover.

Out of 3,274 Filipinos in the region who have contracted the virus, more than half or 1,840 are “undergoing treatment,” the foreign office said.
