29 more Filipinos abroad test positive for COVID-19; total rises to 2,664

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday reported 29 new cases of COVID-19 among Filipinos living abroad, bringing the total to 2,664 from those living in the four major geographical regions.

The DFA’s Foreign Service Post tallied the new cases from Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Americas, and the Middle East.

There were 25 new recoveries in Asia and the Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East—which also tallied six new deaths across three countries.

“With some countries easing their existing travel and mobility restrictions, the DFA personnel in our FSPs continue to actively monitor the status of the Filipino community abroad and work to safely repatriate more of our stranded nationals home,” said the DFA in a statement.

As of posting time, there are 1,400 Filipinos abroad undergoing treatment with a total of 930 patients who have recovered, while 334 have died.

The DFA recorded 47 countries and regions where Filipinos tested positive for COVID-19.
