14 more Filipinos overseas recover as COVID-19 cases abroad soar to 2,522

MANILA, Philippines — Fourteen more Filipinos abroad have recovered from the coronavirus disease, bringing the total count of recovered Filipinos overseas to 878, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) recorded on Saturday.

The foreign affairs department has documented 2,522 total cases of coronavirus disease among Filipinos abroad with 18 additional infections of the respiratory disease.

“Today’s reports from our Foreign Service Posts across three major geographical regions reveal an increase of 14 new recoveries for a total of 878 recovered Filipinos, compared to 18 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 patients among our nationals abroad for an overall total of 2,522 confirmed cases abroad,” DFA said in a statement.

Of the 2,522 cases, DFA said 1,353 patients are undertaking treatment from hospitals in their respective countries.

DFA also said the COVID-19 death toll among Filipinos overseas reached 291 after reporting four new deaths from the United States and Europe.

Globally, COVID-19 infected more than 5.2 million people. It has killed more than 338,000 individuals while more than 2.05 million recovered from the respiratory ailment.
