No COVID-19 cases among Filipinos in Indonesia, envoy says

MANILA, Philippines — There are no Filipinos among the over 15,000 confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Indonesia, Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Leehiong Wee said on Thursday.

“We are coordinating sa Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, sa Ministry of Health at saka sa lahat ng Indonesian authority dito so we can see the situation (of our countrymen here). We are giving assistance naman sa mga Filipino in this country pero as of now walang cases,” the diplomat said in a televised public briefing.

He added that most of the Filipino workers there are doing fine and are currently in “stable condition”.

According to the Johns Hopkins University and Medicine Coronavirus Resource Center, there are 15,438 cases of viral illness in Indonesia, including 1,028 deaths and 3,287 recoveries.
