Filipino missionary in Spain dies of COVID-19, says CBCP
MANILA, Philippines — A Filipino missionary assigned in Spain has died due to the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said Saturday.
A report from CBCP News stated that Father Gilbert Luis III, a priest at the Colegio de Nuestra Madre del Buen Consejo, succumbed to the respiratory ailment in the City of Leon on Friday, May 1.
He was first assigned at the Spanish Augustinian Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus of the Philippines before working with different missions abroad.
He was also assigned to Augustinians’ houses in Neguri and Loui in Spain from April 2013 until July 2019.
CBCP also said Luis was a former school chaplain at the Colegio San Agustin-Makati. He was also a former pastor at San Jose Parish in Iloilo City.
