COVID-19 hits 40 more Filipinos abroad; 10 new deaths reported

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has reported an additional 40 new coronavirus infection and 10 deaths from COVID-19 among overseas Filipinos.

Data released by DFA on Wednesday showed that a total of 1,644 Filipinos abroad are now been infected by SARS-CoV-2, which causes respiratory illness coronavirus disease 2019.

Of the number, 1,011 patients are still undergoing treatment while 434 have recovered.

Also, DFA said a total of 199 Filipinos overseas have died from COVID-19 with the latest 10 fatalities recorded in the Americas and the Middle East.

Below is the breakdown of the COVID-19 cases among Filipinos located across 46 countries as of April 29, 2020:

In the Philippines, 8,212 cases of COVID-19 have been reported as of April 29. Of this, 1,023 have recovered while 558 have died.
