MANILA, Philippines — Thirteen Filipino seafarers were evacuated from a cruise ship at Madrid, Spain, and returned to the Philippines on Saturday afternoon, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
The Filipino sailors of MSC Magnifica arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 with the help of the Philippine Embassy in Madrid, according to DFA.
“The repatriation of this batch of seafarers was made possible with the cooperation of the management of MSC Magnifica and assistance of the Philippine Embassy in Madrid,” DFA said in a statement.
The repatriated Filipinos would undergo health protocols and a 14-day mandatory quarantine as per the Department of Health’s Bureau of Quarantine, DFA noted.
