Number of overseas Filipinos with COVID-19 now close to 1,000 cases
MANILA, Philippines — The number of overseas Filipinos who tested positive for the new coronavirus is now close to 1,000 with six new cases of infection, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Monday.
According to the DFA, the total number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases among overseas Filipinos across 42 countries rose to 990.
Of the number, 584 Filipino patients are still undergoing treatment while 263 have already been discharged from hospitals or have recovered.
Three new fatalities, meanwhile, have been reported, bringing the total number of deaths to 143.
“The DFA remains committed to ensure the welfare of our people and stands ready to provide assistance to the COVID-19 positive Filipino nationals as needed,” the department said.
