DFA: 32 new cases of COVID-19 among overseas Filipinos; total climbs to 736

MANILA, Philippines — Thirty-two more overseas Filipinos have tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), bringing the total number of cases to 736, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Wednesday.

Of the 736 COVID-19 cases among the Filipino community abroad, 426 are still undergoing treatment, data released by the DFA showed.

Meanwhile, 222 patients have been discharged from hospitals or have recovered, including six new recoveries.

No new death has been reported by the DFA.

According to the DFA, there are 41 countries where confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos have been recorded.

“Today also marks the 16th consecutive day of DFA’s repatriation efforts since the COVID-19 outbreak,” the DFA said.

“The DFA will tirelessly carry on with its commitment to assist our nationals abroad who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,” it added.

In the Philippines, the Department of Health (DOH) has so far confirmed 5,453 COVID-19 cases in the country.

There are so far 349 deaths reported while 353 have recovered from the disease.
