9 Filipino frontliners in Germany tested positive for COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Embassy in Germany is monitoring nine Filipino nurses in Germany who have tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In a virtual Laging Handa public briefing Monday, Philippine Ambassador to Berlin Maria Theresa Dizon-De Vega said the Filipino nurses are experiencing mild symptoms while at least two are asymptomatic.

“Hopefully po lahat po sila maka-recover sa madaliang panahon,” Dizon-De Vega said, adding that they are enforcing daily wellness check on the affected Filipino frontliners.

According to the Johns Hopkins University & Medicine Coronavirus Resource Center, Germany has 127,854 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of Monday afternoon.

All in all, the virus, which originated in Hubei, China, has infected over 1.8 million in nearly 200 countries and territories.

The Philippines as of Sunday confirmed 4,648 cases of the disease, with 297 deaths and 197 patients who recovered.
