COVID-19 infects 21 more Filipinos overseas; total now at 651
MANILA, Philippines — The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has infected 21 more Filipinos abroad, bringing the total count to 651, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Black Saturday.
Of the 651, DFA said 379 Filipinos overseas are undertaking treatment from hospitals and health centers.
The foreign affairs department also recorded that five more overseas Filipinos have died due to COVID-19. This brings the total number of deaths due to the infectious disease to 84.
The DFA also documented 16 patients recovered from the ailment. This brings the total number of recoveries to 188.
The World Health Organization declared COVID-19 as a pandemic which now has more than 1.6 million cases globally including more than 377,000 recoveries and more than 102,000 deaths, according to data from John Hopkins University.
