DFA: 80 crew members of MV Diamond Princess recover from COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — The 80 Filipino crew members of the MV Diamond Princess, which was docked at the Yokohama port in Japan, have successfully recovered from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Thursday.

According to the latest data provided by the DFA, the crew members are part of the 121 Filipinos abroad who managed to recover from the viral disease.

Meanwhile, the DFA added that it has recorded 448 confirmed cases of COVID-19 of Filipinos abroad. Of the said number, 14 have died.

Among the fatalities was the Philippines Ambassador to Lebanon Bernardita Catalla who passed away on Thursday.

The DFA further stated that 211 cases of COVID-19 are in the Asia Pacific Region, 52 cases in the Middle East and Africa, 148 cases in Europe and 37 cases in one country in the Americas.

In the Philippines, there are 2,633 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 107 have died while 51 managed to recover.
