MANILA, Philippines — There are now 13 Filipinos in Singapore who got infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Friday.
In a statement, the DFA said that the latest information came from the Singaporean Ministry of Health.
“Through information from the Singaporean Ministry of Health, the Embassy confirms that the 12th and 13th Filipino nationals who were confirmed positive with COVID-19 are currently confined in hospitals,” the DFA said.
Out of the 13 infected, two have been discharged, the department added.
The DFA previously said that Filipinos in Singapore who tested positive for COVID-19 was at 11.
“The Embassy is in close coordination with the Ministry of Health of Singapore and stands ready to extend assistance to the COVID-19-positive Filipino nationals as needed,” the DFA further stated.
The COVID-19 was first detected in the city of Wuhan, Hubei province in China in late 2019, and has since spread in other parts of the world.
The World Health Organization later declared the COVID-19 crisis as a pandemic.
In the Philippines, meanwhile, there have been 217 recorded cases of the disease, including 18 deaths.
