3 Filipinos in Singapore confirmed to have COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — Three more Filipinos in Singapore tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Singapore’s health ministry reported Friday.

The three Filipinos, who all traveled to the Philippines before they tested positive, are among the 12 new cases reported in the country as of Friday noon.

Singapore’s 167th case is a 35-year-old Filipino woman who reported onset of symptoms on March 8 and sought treatment at the Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH), where she works as a staff nurse, on March 9.

Her test results confirmed her COVID-19 infection Tuesday afternoon.

“She had been in the Philippines from 11 February to 17 February. She is currently warded in an isolation room at NTFGH,” the ministry said.

A 37-year-old Filipino, who is a relative of the 167th case, also tested positive for COVID-19.

“He had been in the Philippines from 11 February to 19 February, and again from 23 February to 2 March to visit a relative with pneumonia who has since passed on,” the ministry said.

The said Filipino was confirmed to have contracted the disease Friday morning and have since been warded in an isolation room at NTFGH, the ministry noted.

The ministry classified the 37-year-old patient as an imported case.

A 42-year-old Filipino woman, known as case 172, was confirmed to have COVID-19 Friday morning.

The patient traveled to the Philippines from February 27 to March 2, according to the health ministry.

She is currently warded in an isolation room at National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID), the ministry said.

All three Filipinos are Singapore Work Pass holders, it noted.
