MANILA, Philippines — Two Filipinos in Lebanon have been infected by the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Ed Meñez said Monday in Malacañang.
This brings the total number of infected Filipinos abroad to 91.
The DFA official likewise noted that 40 of the 80 COVID-19-infected Filipinos in Japan have recovered, 21 of whom are already back in the country.
Four Filipinos in Hong Kong also tested positive of the coronavirus, three in Singapore, and two in the United Arab Emirates.
Meñez also said that Saudi Arabia, Cook Islands, Kuwait, and Qatar have already imposed travel restrictions against COVID-19 affected countries including the Philippines.
The Philippines has so far reported 10 positive cases, including five Filipinos, three Chinese, one Taiwanese, and one American. One of the 3 Chinese patients died, but the other two have already recovered from COVID-19.
Globally, the coronavirus has already infected more than 100,000 people and killed at least 3,800, a vast majority of which came from Hubei, China, the epicenter of the outbreak.
