MANILA, Philippines — The repatriation of 140 Filipinos from Macau is scheduled on March 11, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced Friday.
“Mga 140 yan pero of the 140, 40 ang documented, 100 undocumented,” Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said in an interview on Radyo Inquirer.
(That’s about 140 but of the number, 40 are documented and 100 are undocumented.)
“Dadarating na sila dito ng 11,” he added.
(They will arrive here on the 11th.)
The repatriated Filipinos will be subjected to home quarantine, Bello noted.
Malacañang earlier said that apart from the over 100 Filipinos in Macau, 48 members of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) are also set to return to the country.
The Philippines banned all travel to and from China and its administrative regions – Hong Kong and Macau – to combat the spread of the coronavirus disease or COVID-19.
The Hong Kong and Macau travel ban later exempted Filipino workers there as well as students and permanent residents.
