A third Filipino maid in Hong Kong has tested positive for the new coronavirus just as the two others have recovered.
The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong said late on Wednesday that it was officially informed that another Filipino woman who tested positive for the virus was in isolation and undergoing tests in a hospital.
“The consulate general just spoke to her and ascertained she is healthy and presently not exhibiting any symptoms. She asked that her identity be kept secret,” the consulate general said in a statement.
The other two who earlier tested positive “have recovered but still remain in the hospital for further tests,” it added.
To be discharged soon
Filipinos who were earlier confirmed to have contracted the new virus “are expected to be discharged soon” since they have already recovered.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed the report on Thursday, pointing out that “all three Filipinos reportedly contracted the virus from their employers.”
The DFA also clarified that Filipino workers and those visiting their families are still allowed to enter Saudi Arabia under the travel ban the kingdom imposed as a precaution to prevent the spread of the virus.
The temporary travel ban covers only those with “umrah” (pilgrimage) and tourist visas, which the Saudi government has suspended indefinitely, it said.
“Filipinos who hold visas for employment, work visit, business visit, and family visit are still allowed entry” into Saudi Arabia, it said.
