DFA: OFWs may still enter Saudi Arabia amid COVID-19 travel restriction
MANILA, Philippines — Filipinos with employment visas may still enter the Kingdon of Saudi Arabia, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) clarified on Thursday.
In a travel advisory, DFA said Filipinos with visas for work, business and family visits are still allowed to enter the oil-rich kingdom.
Saudi Arabia earlier imposed a travel ban as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
DFA clarified that the travel ban imposed by the Saudi Arabian government only covers Filipinos with Umrah (pilgrimage) and tourist visas.
Issuance of Umrah and tourist visas are also suspended indefinitely, DFA said.
The DFA assured that the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh and the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah are monitoring the situation and coordinating with Saudi Arabia authorities.
