OFW in Hong Kong tests positive for COVID-19 — DOH

MANILA, Philippines — An Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Hong Kong has been infected by the COVID-19, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed Wednesday.

In a press briefing, Health Assistant Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the OFW was taking care of a patient who tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

DOH, however, did not give other details about the age and gender of the OFW who tested positive of the virus.

“What we know for now ito ay positive, apparently, OFW siya na nag-alaga ng isang tao na nag-test din positive (What we know, for now, the OFW tested positive for the virus. Apparently, it involved an OFW in Hong Kong who is taking care of a patient who also tested positive for the COVID-19),” Vergeire said, adding that they will give further details on the patient in the coming days.

Previously, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed that a Filipino in United Arab Emirates was infected by the coronavirus.
