Dole asked to provide safety nets for OFWs

/ 05:16 AM December 19, 2019

MANILA, Philippines — Migrant workers advocate and former labor official Susan “Toots” Ople has asked the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) to ensure safety nets to minimize the possible adverse effects of plans to scale down the deployment of workers to Saudi Arabia next year.

An alternative destination must be identified, she said.

Ople also warned that the flow of remittances would be affected since one out of four overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) is deployed in Saudi Arabia.
