MANILA, Philippines — To prevent a local shortage of workers, the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) is set to impose limits on sending workers abroad in more skilled labor categories.
Apart from the construction sector, Assistant Labor Secretary Dominique Tutay said they were also looking at limiting the deployment of those in the energy and aerospace industries.
“We want to limit the deployment outside the country of workers under the energy sector, specifically petrochemists and also computer numeric controlled (CNC) machinists, which are related to the aerospace sector,”Tutay said.
She said the possibility of limiting deployment of the said jobs was due to the reported shortage of such workers for local establishments. —Tina G. Santos
