Robredo open to US Embassy offer of assistance in PH drug war

MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo, who co-chairs the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD), on Saturday said she is open to working with the United States Embassy in the Philippines in dealing with the country’s illegal drugs problem.

Robredo said United States Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim has offered to partner with the Philippines in the area of intelligence gathering.

“The fact that he [Kim] said that the US is looking forward to partnering with us. Iyong tulong ng US sa drug war, lalo na sa intelligence-gathering, very important,” Robredo told reporters after the Indo-Pacific Federation Conference of the Theosophical Society in Quezon City.

Robredo ICAD will have a meeting with the US Embassy within the week to discuss how information sharing can boost the country’s anti-drug campaign.  /muf
