Beach extra with Globe at La Union Surf Break

1

It’s that time of the year when La Union’s waves are crashing on the shore and surfers are in their element. Want to see the best of the best shred those waves? Take a break and enjoy the beach as Globe, in partnership with Karpos, brings you La Union Surf Break 2019. This time, you will not only be able to enjoy the sun and sand, you will also be able to do your part of saving the beach by participating in the clean-up and plastic collection activity.

La Union Surfing Break has been a celebration of surf, music, food, and art since 2006. At the core of the event is its ecotourism activities which care for the local marine life and keep the beaches pristine. It’s a good way to show both visitors and locals that it is possible to chill and relax in La Union while still doing your part of the environment.

Slated for October 25 to 27, 2019, the La Union Surf Break 2019 will take place in the towns of San Juan, Bacnotan and Caba. #CreateWithLove by joining the three-day Surfbreak which includes a music and art festival, surf sessions, sports and wellness activities, an eco-patrol and a grub crawl.

#GlobeLUSurfBreak Beach Clean-ups will be on October 26, 4 PM and October 27, 7 AM. There will be two major clean-up stations in each of the identified beaches where tourists will be encouraged to take part in clean-up and plastic collection. Those interested to join can visit and register at the Globe Prepaid Hangout at Charlie’s Hangar, or the Globe Eco Booth at People’s Park. There are also satellite sign-ups at venue partners, Kahuna and Clean beach.  Each participant will get clean-up gear such as gloves and sacks for the collected trash.

To make things for fun for all, why not make it a contest and see which of your mates can collect the most? For each sack filled, volunteers will get access to an exclusive talk with Save the Philippine Seas to learn more about marine conservation, together with freebies from Globe and Karpos.

There will also be a coral and mangrove planting community workshop with Curma. This will teach the beachgoers and the local community the importance of plants along the beach. For those who have always wanted to ride the waves, there will be surfing lessons, while those who are looking forward to a more quiet weekend, can join the community yoga class by the beach.

So, grab your bags and head on up to La Union to experience a beach vacation like no other at the #GlobeLUSurfBreak.
