SWU runners Dueñas, Tabal capture top plums in Sun Down Run
SOUTHWESTERN University (SWU) runners Mary Joy Tabal and John Philip Dueñas ruled the 2nd South Road Properties (SRP) Sun Down Run yesterday.
Tabal and Dueñas topped the 15-kilometer race held at the SRP. Tabal clocked one hour, four minutes and one second to rule the women’s side while Dueñas finished in 52 minutes and 47 seconds to top the men’s race.
Both will be competing again today in the 15-kilometer race of the Hunat Sugbo: Dagan Para ni Maning (see separate story).
But the win didn’t come easy for both runners.
“Sakit ilang route daganon kay dagko ang mga bato pero enjoy ra man pud,” said Tabal, who bagged her ninth major title this year.
“Naghinay-hinay lang jud ko ug dagan para di ko ma injured sa kabato-an. Pero nindot man pagka prepare ilang route kay na bahin jud ug tarong ang mga runners” Dueñas said.
