Indian president condoles with Philippines after deadly Mindanao quake

MANILA, Philippines – Indian President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday condoled with the Philippines after a deadly quake killed five people and injured dozens in Mindanao.

Kovind is in the Philippines for a five-day state visit in Manila.

“I convey my deepest condolences on the loss of life caused by the earthquake in Mindanao and wish a speedy recovery to those affected,” he said in a joint press statement with Duterte in Malacañang.

“I hope the affected people are able to begin their normal lives soon,” he added.

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake shook southern Mindanao on Wednesday evening.

On Thursday, a 5.2-magnitude was also recorded east of Manay town, Davao Oriental province.

Duterte has ordered government agencies to provide immediate help to people affected by the earthquake.
