KIDAPAWAN CITY–A dance group based in this city, called “Off Limits”, brought home gold medals and a trophy after winning the World Supremacy Dance contest in Sydney at the weekend.

Composed mostly of high school students and young professionals, Off Limits, competed with the best dance groups in the world, consistently landing on top during preliminar round, which started Oct. 3, and during championship on Oct. 6.

Off Limits team captain Dave Cazenas said at least 21 teams from Australia, Singapore, New Zealand and Brisbane competed.

“It was a very tough competition,” he said in a phone interview.

He said his group’s synchronized movements, its members passion and love for dancing and trust in each other helped in the achievement.

The trip to Australia was memorable, he said, because the group was able to do it “with meager pocket money.”

Each member received a gold medal and trophy among other tokens that the group brought home.

“We’re still on Cloud Nine,” said JM Gelicame, Off Limits manager.

He said the win was special as team members had difficulty securing passports and visas to go to Australia.
