MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Monday announced the arrest of a pedophile from New Zealand and two Chinese illegal workers in separate operations in Bukidnon and Samar.

BI Intelligence Division (ID) Acting Chief Fortunato Manahan Jr., in his report to Commissioner Jaime Morente, said that New Zealand national Alan James Linton was arrested at his residence in Valencia City, Bukidnon over his child sexual exploitation case in his home country.

Linton was arrested on August 23 following the information from New Zealand police that the convicted pedophile was residing in the Philippines.

Further, the New Zealand authorities also warned of the possible danger Linton poses towards young children.

Likewise, the immigration bureau also nabbed two illegal Chinese workers in Catbalogan City, Samar.

The Chinese nationals were identified as 51-year-old Wu Jiajiang and 26-year-old Wu Zhijie who were caught selling retail goods on August 28, despite their lack of proper work permit and visa.

The New Zealand national, as well as the Chinese nationals, were brought to BI detention facility in Bicutan, Taguig City as they await deportation proceedings. /jpv
