MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Embassy in Tripoli urged to Filipinos in Tunisia’s capital to exercise vigilance in the wake of two explosive attacks along Rue de Charles de Gaulle in the city’s downtown area.
“The (Philippine Embassy in Tripoli) requests all Filipino nationals in Tunis to remain vigilant, avoid these areas and take the necessary precautions,” the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said in a statement on Thursday.
According to the DFA, the embassy received reports from the Interim Legation in Tunis, about two bombs that went off Thursday morning.
Based on initial reports, the explosions involved a suicide bomber and a car bomb that were detonated one after the other near the French Embassy and the headquarters of the Anti-Terrorist Police, the DFA noted.
The embassy, which has jurisdiction over Tunisia, has advised that Filipinos contact the Interim Legation and the Philippine Consulate in Tunis through +216 50 926 251 in case of any emergency./ac
