MANILA, Philippines — The United States Embassy in the Philippines and international organizations have intensified their campaign against online sexual exploitation of children (OSEC).
In a statement on Friday, the embassy said it partnered with the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking and International Justice Mission to train 60 prosecutors and investigators in combating OSEC.
The US Department of Justice, Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training (OPDAT) also helped in the training.
The four-day workshop included lectures, in-depth discussions, and practical exercises.
Trial Lawyer Kaylynn Shoop and Digital Investigative Analyst Joshua Storey from the US DOJ Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section shared practices, digital forensic analysis, and prosecution of OSEC cases.
OPDAT, the Philippine Supreme Court’s Sub-Committee on Commercial Courts and the Philippine Judicial Academy will undertake cybercrime training for judges on June 26 to 27. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
