MANILA, Philippines—The deployment of new Filipino workers to Bahrain continues to be on hold, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration on Thursday said.

In a Radyo Inquirer interview, POEA chief Carlos Cao Jr. said that they were still implementing the order of the Department of Labor and Employment to stop processing documents of all first-time workers in Bahrain.

However, Cao clarified, that the deployment ban doesn’t apply for returning workers because “they have employment contracts to fulfill.”

“The returning workers will be allowed to go back to Bahrain provided that they submit an affidavit stating their intent to resume their employment despite the security risks there,” Cao said in Filipino.
