TOKYO — President Rodrigo Duterte went shopping here Thursday in an apparent break from the official schedule of his four-day working visit to Japan.
Accompanied by his partner, Honeylet Avanceña, and daughter, Kitty, Duterte went to a store of homegrown global apparel chain Uniqlo, where he bought casual clothes.
He also went to an Apple store and checked out the latest gadgets from the US tech company.
“Namimili si Pangulo ng damit dahil ito lang ang pagkakataon niya na makaikot man lang. This is his third time na po pumunta ng Japan, ito yung unang pagkakataon na nakaikot siya ng downtown sa Japan. Pumunta siya ng Uniqlo, yun naman ang paborito niyang damit, simpleng damit lang po,” Incoming Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, who was with Duterte, told reporters here.
(The President bought clothes, it was his only chance to look around. This is his first time to go around downtown. He bought simple clothes).
“Kahit nga sa yung nakaraang mga biyahe, Uniqlo talaga hinahanap niya. Nasa Pilipinas rin itong Uniqlo. Yun ang komportable po siya sa tela,” he added.
The President also went to an Apple store and checked out the latest gadgets from the US tech company.
Go said the President wanted to purchase a cellphone for Kitty.
“Pumunta siya doon sa Apple Store para pumili ata ng Apple Watch yata para sa anak niya o cellphone. Si Pangulo rin nagtingin ng computer, laptop dahil minsan doon po siya nagtatrabaho at minsan nanonood po siya ng mga palabas,” he said.
