MANILA, Philippines — Former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales was eventually allowed to enter Hong Kong hours after she was held at the airport, but she chose to go back to the Philippines.
This was revealed by Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro “Teddyboy” Locsin Jr. Tuesday as he recounted in a series of Twitter posts what had transpired in Hong Kong.
Morales was reportedly barred from entering Hong Kong for being a “security threat.”

“Former Ombudsman Carpio-Morales arrived in HK via PAL at 12:20 p.m. While her four companions — a daughter, son-in-law, and two grandkids — were admitted, she was refused entry with airport officials saying only ‘this is an instruction,'” Locsin said in a Twitter post.
“Later HK authorities okayed her entry but she and her family had already decided to go back to Manila on the 6 pm PAL flight,” he further wrote.
Locsin said that when Morales was denied entry to Hong Kong, a Philippine consul had asked the authorities to allow her to stay in the territory, but they “refused.”
He added that Morales was in “high spirits” as she and her family were waiting for their flight back to Manila.

The former Ombudsman and former Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert Del Rosario recently filed a complaint against Chinese President Xi Jinping before the International Court in The Hague for crimes against humanity.
