MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has filed a criminal case in Kuwait for the death of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW).

The DFA said on Tuesday they have coordinated with the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait for the case of the slain OFW identified as Ma. Constancia Lago Dayag.

“The DFA, through the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait, has hired a lawyer, who has already filed a criminal case. The Department will continue to provide legal and other assistance to the next-of-kin of the late OFW Dayag,” DFA said in a statement, without specifying who the respondents are in the case.

A cucumber was reportedly found inside Dayag’s private parts when she was rushed to the Al Sabah Hospital last May 14. She was, however, declared dead on arrival.

“Her body bore various contusions and hematoma, with a ‘cucumber’ inside her private part,” said Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) secretary Silvestre Bello III.
