Dela Rosa dominates Senate race in overseas voting in Taiwan

MANILA, Philippines — Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa led the Senate race in overseas absentee voting (OAV) in Taiwan, as shown in the certificate of canvass (COC) released by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday.

Of the 9,360 votes in Taiwan, Dela Rosa garnered 7,743 votes in Taiwan followed by Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos with 7,389 votes.

Aside from Dela Rosa, administration-backed senatorial candidates were also included in the “Magic 12” of the overseas absentee votes from Taiwan.

The breakdown of votes in senatorial race in Taiwan as per COC in Taiwan are as follows:

1. Bato Dela Rosa – 7,743

2. Imee Marcos – 7,389

3. Christopher Bong Go – 7,383

4. Doc Willie Ong – 6,745

5. Pia Cayetano – 6,571

6. Cynthia Villar – 5,923

7. Francis Tolentino 4,811

8. Sonny Angara 4,140

9. Grace Poe 4,109

10. Glenn Chong 3,730

11. Larry Gadon 3,669

12. Lito Lapid 3,517

Dela Rosa, Marcos, Go, Cayetano, Villar, Angara, and Tolentino were either supported by presidential daughter Sara Duterte-Carpio’s regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago or President Rodrigo Duterte’s Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan.

Comelec said there are 44 clustered precincts in Taiwan.

Only 9,630 people voted out of the 41,460 registered voters in Taiwan. (Editor: Julie Espinosa)
