MANILA, Philippines – An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Saudi Arabia, who was allegedly maltreated by her employer has returned home, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported.

In a statement issued on Friday, the DFA said that Lovely Acosta Baruelo arrived in Manila late Thursday.

“The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh reported that the case of OFW Baruelo was referred to them on 9 May and she was repatriated on the same day,” the DFA said.

Baruelo was allegedly tied to a tree as punishment by her employer, the DFA added. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
