MANILA, Philippines — Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. is in Singapore until May 10 for his official introductory visit there, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.

In a statement issued late Tuesday, the DFA said that Locsin was invited by Singaporean Foreign Minister Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan.

Locsin and Balakrishnan will engage in a bilateral meeting for “to review and chart the future direction of cooperation, as both countries mark the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations this year,” the DFA added.

The Philippines top diplomat is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, the DFA said.

“This will be Secretary Locsin’s first bilateral visit to Singapore, having previously visited the country in connection with the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) meetings in 2018 during Singapore’s Chairmanship,” the DFA noted.

While in Singapore, Locsin will also visit the Philippine Embassy there to observe the conduct of overseas voting for the May elections, the DFA added. /cbb
