MANILA, Philippines — A Swedish national, who was wanted in his country for fraud and swindling cases, was arrested in Iloilo, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Thursday.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente identified the suspect as Kenneth Tobias Christopher Moberg, 28.

Morente said operatives from the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) together, with agents from Philippine National Police Regional Intelligence Division Region 6, arrested Moberg on Monday at his home in Barangay Poblacion Ilawod, San Enrique in Iloilo.

Moberg was then brought to the BI Detention Facility in Taguig City for his deportation proceedings.

According to Morente, the mission order for Moberg’s arrest stemmed from the request of the Bangkok-based Nordic Police and Customs Cooperation, which told BI that Moberg “is the subject of a red notice from Interpol.”

A Swedish Court also issued an arrest warrant due to his involvement in criminal cases such as “gross fraud, attempted fraud and unlawful use of identity.”

BI-FSU chief Bobby Raquepo said Moberg hid in the Philippines since May 23, 2018, when he last arrived as a tourist.

Moberg will also be included in the BI blacklist and will be banned from re-entering the Philippines for being an undesirable alien. /jpv
