The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) on Tuesday warned nurses who want to land a job in Germany through its Triple Win program to be extra cautious and submit their applications only to the POEA and not through any recruitment agency.

POEA Administrator Bernard Olalia said his office had received reports of an illegal online recruitment scheme targeting nurses who want to work in Germany through the government-to-government Triple Win program.

No third-party agency is authorized to handle the recruitment and deployment of nurses since these are solely handled by the government, POEA stressed.

Olalia urged jobseekers to be vigilant and report to the POEA any suspected illegal recruitment activity.

Under the Triple Win program, which started in 2013, Filipino nurses are hired by employers in Germany to fill that the gap in that country’s healthcare system.

The POEA is still accepting applications until Feb. 28 to fill up the vacancy of 400 nurses.

To qualify, an applicant must be a Filipino citizen with at least two years of experience in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, or care institutions.

The applicant must also be proficient in the German language or willing to undergo language training in the Philippines, which will be paid for by the employer.

Successful applicants will shoulder, in part or in full, their accommodations, while their employers will pay for their visa and airfare expenses. /atm
