SINGAPORE — President Rodrigo Duterte arrived here Monday night for the 33rd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit and Related Summits this week.
Duterte’s private jet, which came from Davao City, his hometown, arrived at the Changi airport at 8:23 p.m.
The President’s delegation, which arrived separately, include Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr., Finance Secretary Carlos Domiguez III, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Trade Secretary Ramom Lopez, Social Welfare Secretary Rolando Joselito Bautista, National Security Advise Hermogenes Esperon Jr., presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, Philippine Permanent Rep. to Asean Elizabeth Buensuceso, Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Joseph Del Mar Yap.
Yap and Singaporean Minister of State Sam Tan Chin Siong welcomed Duterte to the Lion City.
The President is scheduled to meet Asean leaders to discuss political, economic and security cooperation.
The chief executive will have a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and might also have one with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The President might also have a meeting with United States Vice President Mike Pence and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. /atm
