No Filipino casualties in Crimea shooting

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Thursday that no Filipino was killed or injured in the shooting incident at Kerch Polytechnic College in Crimea that killed 20 people and injured almost 40 others.

Philippine Ambassador to Russia Carlos Sorreta said in his report that an 18-year-old student was responsible for the attack.

Authorities said the suspect later killed himself at the site of the attack.

The DFA has extended its sympathies to the families of those who were killed in the incident and hoped for the fast recovery of those who were injured.

Three days of mourning in Crimea have been declared from Thursday, he added. /ee
