A Filipino who lives near an Indonesian island affected by a volcanic eruption is being tracked down by authorities, the Deaprtment of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said in a statement on Wednesday.
At around 8:47 a.m. on Wednesday, Mount Supotan in Sulawesi, Indonesia spewed a massive column of ash.

Oscar Orcine, Philippine Consulate General in Indonesia reported to DFA that they are trying to get in touch with the Filipino who is also a retired employee of Orcine.
The Filipino is living with his Indonesian wife and son near the volcano at 45 kilometers from Manado, Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Orcine said 144 Filipinos in Manado and Bitung in Indonesia were advised to evacuate.
Most of these Filipinos are teachers and factory workers. /atm
