Driver fatally stabbed by fellow Filipino in Saudi Arabia

A Filipino was stabbed to death by his Filipino co-worker in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has revealed.

Citing report from the Philippine Consulate in Jeddah, the DFA said the fatality is a 29-year-old man from Datu Odin Sinsuat in Maguindanao who works as a family driver in the Saudia Arabian port city.

The DFA said it was only notified about the incident on Tuesday.

Consul General Edgar Badajos said the victim was stabbed by a fellow Filipino who also works as a driver for the same Saudi family.

Initially, the two allegedly engaged in a fist-fight in front of their employer’s house. This scuffle ended in the deadly stabbing of the victim.

Badajos said the suspect, a 34-year-old man who hails from Capiz, was immediately arrested by Saudi police and remains in detention, as of this posting.

The Consulate General and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Jeddah will extend full assistance to both Filipinos and their respective families, Badajos assured.  /kga
