Filipina killed by actor-husband in Sweden to get justice – DFA

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has assured that “justice would be served” to an overseas Filipino worker, Mailyn Conde Sinambong, who was killed in Sweden last week.

In a statement Sunday night, the DFA also assured the family of Sinambong that her body would be returned to the Philippines “immediately.”

“Secretary [Alan Peter] Cayetano has given assurances that all the necessary assistance shall be extended to Mailyn’s family to not only immediately reunite her with her loved ones in the Philippines but also to ensure that justice would be served,” it said.

Initial information of the DFA revealed that Sinambong was killed last September 23 by her Swedish actor-husband.

The department noted that her husband is already under the custody of the Swedish authorities in relation to the crime.

“The Philippine Embassy in Norway is in contact with Swedish authorities in connection with the 23 September murder of Mailyn,” it said.

“The Embassy said it is also working with the Swedish government-provided lawyer handling the case,” it added.

The Embassy is already in touch with Sinambong aunt living in Norway and her mother living in Cebu. /cbb
