An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) was shot and killed in Saudi Arabia after allegedly stabbing to death his Saudi manager and a Pakistani co-worker on Wednesday afternoon, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Wednesday.
The worker also wounded several others.
His identity was withheld pending notification of his next of kind.
According to the Philippines Consulate General in Jeddah, the incident happened on Farasan Island, 50 kilometers offshore from the southern city of Jizan.
Consul General Edgar Badajos said the man allegedly stabbed the Pakistani first after an argument and then stabbed his Saudi manager and several others when they tried to intervene.
According to Badajos, a security guard and a subcontractor of the Saudi Electrical Company immediately responded, fatally shooting the Filipino.
A team from the consulate will be dispatched to Jizan, which is more than 600 km from Jeddah, to gather more information about the incident and to assist in repatriating the remains of the Filipino. /atm
