Duterte lands in Jordan after ‘historic’ Israel visit

AMMAN — President Rodrigo Duterte arrived here on Wednesday night for a three-day official visit to Jordan, the first for a sitting Philippine president to visit this Arab nation.

Duterte arrived at Queen Alia International Airport at around  10:17 p.m. (Philippine time)  together with government officials after a four-day “historic” visit from Israel.

The President is set to have a bilateral meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah II to discuss areas of cooperation between the two countries.

The President is also scheduled to grace a business forum here where he is expected to speak before Jordanian businessmen to attract more investors to the Philippines.

He will likewise meet with the Filipino community at the Royal Cultural Palace. Jordan is home to 40, 000 Filipino workers.

After his visit here, Duterte will fly back to the Philippines on Friday./kga
