POEA urged to ban Kuwaiti blogger from getting PH maid

A migrant workers’ rights advocate group wants the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) to bar Kuwait social media influencer and celebrity makeup artist Sondos Alqattan from hiring a domestic worker from the Philippines.

Susan Ople, head of the Blas F. Ople Policy Center, said the blogger personified the ugly face of modern-day slavery and should be included in the POEA’s blacklist of abusive and undesirable foreign employers.

“She is not worthy to be even in the same room as our valiant and hardworking OFWs,” Ople said in a statement. —Tina G. Santos
